Telling the time has gotten a whole lot more complex than before as it no longer requires a simple glance at your wrist any more.

Tokyoflash, long time purveyors of complex timepieces that are hard to tell, have come up with the Ferrowatch that holds a magnetically sensitive liquid (known as Ferrofluid) which is located under the glass face. A magnetic charge will attract the fluid to different positions within the watch, resulting in the indication of hours and minutes. Needless to say, telling the time then is as simple as can be, but the method used to arrive at such a state is impressive to say the least. Some people might prefer to have illumination within, but we think that this would make a great timepiece to impress the chicks.

Small game consoles have definitely damaged business for arcade machine sellers, but you still can’t help but love the classic that started it all.  Thankfully there are still certain companies that like to make very stylish and current arcade themed furniture.  Surface Tension’s Arcane Arcade Table may not be exactly new, but it’s getting some updates to make it an even sweeter deal.

The updated version will be getting Sonos ZP90 wireless ZonePlayer, making it possible to make the table a part of your Sonos network.  It’s also taking a step up from the original 190inch LCD size and going on up to 26-inches.  In addition to that, it’ll ship out with Windows 7.  The table currently features Intel i7 CPU, 8GB 1366 DDR3 RAM and 256GB SSD.  The table itself has hi-gloss sides and a slightly longer control panel that houses 2 x 7-button layouts and a spinner.  I believe it goes without saying though that these tables are going to cost you a whole lot of cash.

This is GE Visible You, on display at the Shanghai Expo. As you can see, it can help the user to act out their body as a living X-ray.

I’m sure that you’re probably wondering how this could be, as X-rays create a lot of harmful radiation. No, think of this like an application of the Microsoft Kinect. (Oh, a Kinect App, is there such a thing? Will there be?) As far as I know, it has nothing to do with the Kinect, though.

All the user has to do is stand in front of it, and it somehow reads you like a scanner and turn you into a moving skeleton. By the way, it can also scan you and give you a simulation of your muscular system and cardiovascular system. Of course, even though this is a real-time scan, don’t count on it finding any tumors.

Yes, I suppose this is one step closer to the X-ray screens that we saw in the movie Total Recall. They might be good at finding a gun, but I look forward to it when it can quickly find medical problems.

Until then, I hope that GE can somehow manufacture these things, and then put them in amusement parks or something.

I wouldn’t mind letting one of these things scan me so I can see my interior organs on display.

Heard of Control4 before? Well, the company is now a leader in affordable IP-based control and entertainment systems, where they have recently announced a new generation of dedicated in-wall touch screens. We’re talking about the Control4 InfinityEdge Touch Screens here, where it will be available in 5” and 7” sizes while boasting edge-to-edge capacitive glass and a low profile design. The 5” and 7” models will retail for $599 and $899, respectively, where both the InfinityEdge Touch Screens will also offer intercom capability that is optional, where it will cost another $499 for a license.

One of the reasons to introduce the InfinityEdge Touch Screens would be to deliver affordable home control solutions which enables home owners to access their Control4 system from just about every room in the house. We aren’t talking about a castle or mansion here though, so bear in mind that an average sized house or apartment is the median that we’re referring to. Having said that, Control4 InfinityEdge Touch Screens will deliver intuitive, fingertip control of lights, music, climate, entertainment and security systems. Thanks to edge-to-edge capacitive glass, they deliver the full functionality of Control4 OS 2.0, which includes a new flash-based user interface and the ability to access and extend Control4 system capabilities with apps from the 4Store Application Marketplace. If you decided to go for the whole works and get the intercom capability as well, it lets you monitor rooms, communicate between rooms, or to broadcast messages to multiple InfinityEdge touch screens under the same roof.

You will be able to opt between AC power or Power Over Ethernet (PoE) to keep the screens juiced up, but the latter is more environmentally friendly. Apart from that, you also have a choice of wired or Wi-Fi connectivity options and four programmable buttons which will cater for customized commands, making the InfinityEdge Touch Screens a whole lot more flexible. Since both the 5” and 7” models share the same back-box, it lets you change to a different model at any time you like.
