cricket Cricket Communications offer BlackBerry Curve 8530

Love the BlackBerry smartphone that you can’t get enough of its keyboard as well as blinking red light which keeps you occupied for most of the day? Well, good thing you aren’t residing in the UAE where the country has apparently banned the used of BlackBerry services due to the government demanding for RIM to allow them access to all messages sent and received, with RIM not budging (good for them). Well, those living Stateside can still have their healthy, daily dose of BlackBerry, this time round with Cricket delivering the BlackBerry Curve 8530 whcih will be accompanied by a pocket friendly 3G BlackBerry plan, now how about that for helping subscribers out during times of economic hardship?

Cricket will be offering the BlackBerry Curve 8530 for $299.99, where it will come with Cricket’s true rate $60 BlackBerry Plan. For $60, what can you get? For starters, we’re talking about unlimited nationwide talk, text, email, web browsing, picture mail and even international text capabilities, all done over Cricket’s all 3G network – yep, that’s right, you won’t have to worry about the signal dropping to EDGE or GPRS any more in selected areas.

Of course, the $60 will also include all forms of taxes and fees save for applicable sales text, but if you’re a heavy duty user, then this will certainly sound extremely appealing considering you can go nuts with all your text messaging and email without burning a hole in your wallet. Parents might want to consider this option for their kids as well, especially those who have been bundled off to college, as it helps them keep in touch without costing too much.

Just to recap, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 will come with a comfortable full-QWERTY keyboard, a high-resolution 320 x 240 pixel color display (pretty average for a BlackBerry, but don’t compare it to iPhone or Android-powered smartphones), BlackBerry Messenger, access to thousands of applications via BlackBerry App World, a powerful media player, a 2-megapixel camera with video recording capability, integrated GPS navigation, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth connectivity. Media can be stored over a microSD memort card, so getting one with larger capacity is always a good idea.

personalsub thumb 550xauto 43273 300x185 Two people can live in this yellow submarineWe have reported on a lot of personal submarines here at Coolest Gadgets like the Marion Hyper-sub powerboat, the Nautilus VAS Luxury submersible, even Richard Branson’s underwater plane, the Nymph.

This is another personal submarine, and it is yellow. Unfortunately, it is not big enough so we all can live in it, as it only seats two people with upright seating.

It is good for going 1,000 feet under the water, and the life support is good for six hours. It also features a 120 volt and 24 volt battery bank, two 3 horsepower main thrusters, two 3 horsepower vertical thrusters, four external halogen lamps, VHF communication radio, GPS, as well as a climate controlled sphere. I’m not certain what that means, but I’m guessing you can make it very warm or very cool in there.

I don’t know how far you could go with this guy from the shore, but man, I would love to see it for myself. Anyone know if you need a license to drive one of these things? I wonder how many mini subs are out there under the water anyway.

After all, they only cost a low price of…two million dollars? Well, I knew that this type of hobby wouldn’t be cheap.

I just received a Samsung Netbook as a gift and need to know how to get online. I’m new at this and I’m not looking to spend a mint on gadgets, so something cost effective and easy would appreciated!!

If you have tips on what portable hard drives are good and inexpensive, add that also. I want to transfer some games from my desktop to my Netbook.

Best reply by Cookiemobsta:

Your netbook comes equipped with a wireless network card. This allows it to connect to wireless internet signals that are sent out by wireless routers.

These routers exist in many public places (such as coffee shops and librarys, and are advertised as “wifi” or “wifi hotspots”). You want to click on the wireless network option (in the bottom right of your screen, near the clock) and find a network name listed, then click on it to connect to the internet.
You can also buy a wireless router and plug it into your home internet connection, which allows you to connect to the internet wirelessly anywhere inside your house.

If any of this is confusing, take your netbook to a Best Buy or somewhere similar. They should be very able to help you figure out how to use the internet, as well as sell you a wireless router.

Oh, and if you want to transfer games from your desktop to netbook, I recommend that you get a USB flash drive rather than a portable hard drive. Flash drives are a lot cheaper and a lot smaller. You can get that holds 8 gig (which is probably all you’ll need to transfer any game out there) from Amazon.com for about 15 dollars (http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Cruzer-Micro-Flash-SDCZ6-8192-A11/dp/B000UZN2ZK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1262186412&sr=8-1)

I really need something that is portable and is WiFi capable, like a cell phone or something like that. I want to get a itouch, but i can’t afford it. I’m also trying to get a Motorola ZN5, but i don’t know how good the web browser is on it.

What can i get that has a good web browser for less than $100~$150

Best reply by Regina P.:

The best options for portable WiFi in your price range would, in my opinion, be a Smartphone or BlackBerry. I do not have many specific suggestions, because there are so many options and choices for portable WiFi. The PSP (about 40 off the limit though) and Nintendo DS with web browser game are really good buys. There is a huge selection of internet tablets as well on my second source. The phone that you want is rated pretty good though, and there is a full page of reviews on it, in my first source. Sorry if I did not really answer much and Hope That Helps icon smile Portable gadgets and stuff with WiFi?

Since I am new to this whole portable internet thing and am not good with the terms and gadgets that are available lately, please suggest a few ways for me to set up a portable internet connection and be able to use it from anywhere else in the world.

If there are certain gadget names, please do name them.

I really want to watch TV all the time and I was wondering if there are already availabel gadgets in the market that will enable me to do so (like while on the road going to work etc) I noticed that some of the upcoming mobile phones will include TV in their features but I worry that the quality is not that good given that they are just “new” in mobile phones. (and most probably they come at a HIGH price). Any suggestions for a “TV Gadget on the go”?

Best reply by michael:
