What a letdown: Sweet new Walkmans not for U.S.

It was a sad day when I reviewed the MP3-players/sony-s-series-walkman/4505-6490_7-33770111.html”>second-gen Sony S-Series Walkman. We expected a worthy successor to MP3-players/sony-walkman-nwz-s638/4505-6490_7-33270801.html”>this fantastic MP3 player and instead were met with a mere shadow of the device and its former glory. True, you still get top-notch sound quality, impressive battery life, and even the added bonus of external speakers, but what happened to my podcast support, upgraded headphones, expanded sound enhancement options, interface personalization, SensMe Channels, and Rhapsody DNA?
Well, most of those things got funneled into the “expanded” S-Series, the S640 and S740 lines, which–naturally–Sony has no intention of offering to U.S. buyers. (The speaker-sporting model is the S540.) These two players differ in only one way: the S740 offers integrated noise canceling, whereas the S640 does not. Other than that, both devices include just about everything that made the original S-Series Walkman so freakin’ sweet, plus the ability to output to a TV and what appears to be some sort of audio recording option. Oh, and it’s available in a 32GB option. You’re killing me, Sony!

Adding insult to injury is the Japan-only release of a next-gen A-Series Walkman, a seemingly spectacular MP3 player with a 2.8-inch WQVGA OLED screen. It offers an S-Master digital amplifier, FM radio, digital noise canceling, and the ability to output to TV at 720Ã480. The package also includes Sony’s MDR-EX300SL earphones (i.e. not shoddy stock earbuds). Oh, and have I mentioned it’s available in capacities up to 64GB? Seriously. Killing. Me.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to write a strongly-worded letter.

I’m debating between the ipod toutch 64 gig, a zune hd 32 gig or a zune 120. I would like to purchas a touch screen device because to me they are much easier to use and i like the features but i have alot of music so i need capacity. I want a zune hd because the device looks amazing, its cheaper than a touch and its not as bulky as a touch but it doesnt have the capacity i need. I was wondering if Zune was planing on releasing a 64 gig any time soon. Also i would like to know your opinion on if a touch would be worth the price or if i should just settle for a zune 120. My last question is if the zune hd’s internet supports flash video or java.

[Looking for headphones at Goodwill].. all of sudden I looked down on a shelf and all by themselves were an old pair of 1980’s or early1990’s Walkman type headphones. The type with the small chrome band that you pull on to adjust. The headphones looked so pathetic just sitting there no players no other headphones nothing but picture frames and old random items. The cord of the headphones were tied up by a rubber band I just couldn’t imagine these things working much less blowing my mind…
…I went home plugged in my new headphones and listened to hours and hours of music. Old school meets new school, no one’s going to believe me when I say how good these headphones sound and how I found them. If you come by a set of Aiwa HP-M16 headphones don’t just walk by: stop, listen and enjoy. I listened for hours, these headphones fit perfectly sounded great and were in flawless condition. Next time you see an old set of headphones don’t just dismiss them they may just blow you away!

Differentiating Mp3 Players From Cheap Mp3 Players
If the MP3 player can play videos or view images as well, then that DAP is termed a portable media player. People who want to use their MP3 players can usually listen to the audio through earphones that are connected to the MP3 player via a 3.5 mm jack. To power the MP3 player, the device may rely on rechargeable batteries.
Your DAP can be further defined as either a Flash-based player, a Hard Drive-based player, or as an MP3 CD player. The Flash-based player type of DAP relies on either removable memory cards, or on internal flash memory to store your music files. The Hard Drive-based player type of DAP uses a hard disk drive and may store a higher volume of music files compared to the Flash-based player type. This type of MP3 Player is sometimes called a Digital Jukebox. The last type of DAP which is the MP3 CD player basically works by reading MP3 files that are burned into a CD.
On the other hand, the new type of MP3 player is the one that utilizes wireless headphone technology. MP3 players that rely on wireless headphone technology allow users to enjoy the convenience of wireless technology yet still hear audio whose quality is equal to that of CDs. At the same time, such MP3 players can run on as much as 10 hours of battery life at one time, using this wireless headphone technology.
Why are MP3 players so popular nowadays? One reason is that the advances in MP3 technology mean that current MP3 players have audio quality that is almost as good as that provided by CDs. For this reason, many people feel that MP3 players are a good investment. Another reason people buy MP3 players is that they offer users more portable ways to store and bring with them their music collection. For instance, a person with 10 CDs has to lug around more weight than person who uses MP3 players to store the same number of song titles contained in those 10 CDs. So people who dislike being saddled with so many discs to listen to in a day may choose MP3 players instead as their preferred audio medium or storage facility.
Now what about cheap MP3 players, are they any good? Should you invest in cheap MP3 players instead of the high end ones? Well, if lower cost alone is what you are seeking, then the cheap MP3 players might fit the bill for you. However, like any other electronic gadgets and items, the price you pay may determine how many features you can get from the cheap MP3 players you buy. Generally, the lower cost MP3 players have less reliable functions because quality costs money. And although there are cheap MP3 players that may pass the quality standards, you as a user would have to determine the features and the benefits of buying and using the cheaper MP3 players.
Lastly, paying a little bit more for quality makes more sense than trying to be content with a less costly but less reliable gadget. So if you had to choose between cheap MP3 players and the more reliable MP3 players, take time to evaluate the gadget first and look for reliable testimonials if you are to use a cheaper MP3 player.

Update: Microsoft has updated their previous figures to a more admirable 33 hours of music playback and 8.5 hours of video, with Wi-Fi off. Charge time is approximately 3 hours. I’ve officially stopped fuming.
Microsoft has finally come out with its battery life estimates for the iPod Touch, by comparison, boasts 36 hours of audio playback and 6 hours of video.
What happened, Microsoft? The Zune HD is packing a power-conserving OLED screen and one of the most impressive and efficient mobile processors on the market.
OK, at this point I know I need to file this post in the “unhinged rant” category, but this is genuinely disappointing. For Microsoft’s sake, let’s pray we’re looking at a typo (Update: it was!), because when Apple drops a new iPod Touch in September, you can bet its battery life won’t be going backwards.
