HP Pavilion dv3 with 13.3-inch Multi-touch Screen Shows up in Leaked HP Catalog [Laptops]

A pretty legitimate-looking rough-draft of HP’s Winter 2009/2010 catalog has leaked out, and seems to confirm a bunch of new Windows 7 laptops that aren’t yet official. One surprise, though: the Pavilion dv3 with multi-finger TouchSmart screen.

As shown in the image above, but highlights include TouchSmart 3.0 software, up to 8GB of memory, and Nvidia GeForce G105M graphics.

The catalog also confirms several laptops that were recently leaked by online retailers. These include the Intel ultra-low voltage-powered Pavilion dm3 (11.6-inch screen), and Pavilion dm1 (13.3-inch screen), in addition to the massive 18.4-inch, mobile Core i7-equipped Pavilion dv8.

The new MacBook-esque HP Envy 13 and 15 laptops (see our hands on) also make an appearance, and round out a pretty impressive laptop range. No word on when we can expect to see them in shops, but it’s very likely they’ll arrive alongside Windows 7 on October 22. [Engadget]

Dell’s Mini3i Phone Photographed, Lacks 3G and Wi-Fi [Dell]

Posted by: Zuneitman  /  Category: Gadgets

So Dell’s made-for China Mobile Mini3i looks confirmed. But it’s no smartphone. Apparent hands-on reports suggest it’s a 2G device, with no 3G or Wi-Fi. However, it does have that 3.5-inch touchscreen and Micro SD card slot we heard about.

The Mini3i runs the Android-based Open Mobile System (OMS), and according to the report, was shown at China Mobile’s event for its new application platform.

The write-up goes on to say that two volume adjustment keys and a mini USB port are on the left side of the capacitive touchscreen, which has a resolution of 360 by 640. The back of the phone has a large Dell logo, Micro SD card slot, and 3.2Mp camera with what looks an LED light.

Still no word on an official release date, but if you’re China, it looks like you won’t have to wait long. [Mobile-163 (translated) via Cloned in China via Engadget]

Refreshed Nokla E81—With an L—Nokia Knockoff Packs Plenty of Swivel [Knockoffs]

If Nokia had ever followed through on that rumored swiveling “E71-type handset” we heard about last April, it would probably have looked a lot like Nokla’s E81 phone here. In fact, Nokla’s betting a few people don’t know the difference.

Strangely, this is the second E81 phone that the knockoff artists at Nokla have put out. The first was a candybar phone that Nokla released to take advantage of the current lack of a legitimate Nokia “E81″ phone in that company’s ever-expanding product lineup.

The features are actually rather modest, but end up being completely overshadowed by the included mirror that graces the phone’s swiveling backside.

Shades of the Sony Ericsson “woman’s cellphone” playbook, no doubt. [Justamp via Engadget via BBG]

North American GSM Palm Pre Reveals Itself (In Name Only) [Smartphones]

Posted by: Zuneitman  /  Category: Gadgets

Some dedicated Palm Pre fanboys/Pre Central readers did a bit of snooping around and found a model number for a North American, GSM Palm Pre in the certification database for Wi-Fi.org. Intrigue!

The model number on this new Pre on the Wi-Fi.org site reads P100UNA (where as the Euro GSM version reads P100UEU and the CDMA version reads P100EWW). There are also references in the Bluetooth Gadget Guide and TUVdotCOM to back this up.

Engadget seems to have the right idea in guessing that this phone is first heading to Bell and our friendly neighbors to the north (that’s Canada, for the directionally challenged). Why, you ask? Because Bell is in the process of switching from a CDMA network to a GSM one, and Sprint is the still the exclusive carrier of the Pre in the US for at least the rest of the year. Then again, maybe Palm is just really, REALLY excited about early 2010. [Wi-Fi.org (PDF) via PreCentral via Engadget

Is This the PS3 Slim in a Kmart Flyer? [Rumor]

A tipster has sent us some shakey-cam photos of what looks to be a 120GB PS3 Slim listed for $299.99 in a Kmart flyer that he says will go out “in a few weeks.” Shenanigans? I’m inclined to think so.

True, that’s the same price and image used in yesterday’s supposed Best Buy PS3 Slim ad mockup, but straight off that bat you’ll notice the Best Buy shot lists a 160GB hard disk. Still, one could be accurate, right? I don’t think so. My major beef with both: the controller placement looks identical to cakefoo’s mockups over at Neogaf.

Oh, and that Hong Kong magazine cover? It turned out to be a fan-made PS3.

What’s interesting, is that all these images seem to reference the supposed PS3 Slim spy shots that Engadget Japan received a takedown request for. But maybe that’s just because they’re the most likely leak we’ve seen to date?

Either way, there’s been a ton of PS3 Slim rumors flying around (see our roundup), but hopefully we’ll know more after Sony’s presser at Gamescon on August 18. [via thomas3390]
