immortal Immortal Video SunglassesHmmm, summer’s out already with fall kicking in – does that mean it is time to shed that pair of sunnies? We think not, especially when you own a pair of Immortal Video Sunglasses that are going for £249. They won’t lengthen your life on this earth in any way, but are capable of recording high quality videos at whatever you look at when wearing them, courtesy of a tiny pinhole camera that is located right out in front.

Of course, singles won’t mind wearing this daily, but those with spouses might want to be more careful with what they look at next time – don’t let your eyes linger on a particular subject for too long! Videos recorded are in 736 x 480 resolution, and can be transferred over to your computer via USB. With 4GB of internal memory, it ought to be able to store a good range of memories before you need to perform a transfer. Each full battery charge offers up to 2.5 hours of recording capability.

ferrowatch Ferrowatch relies on magnetic principles to tell time

Telling the time has gotten a whole lot more complex than before as it no longer requires a simple glance at your wrist any more.

Tokyoflash, long time purveyors of complex timepieces that are hard to tell, have come up with the Ferrowatch that holds a magnetically sensitive liquid (known as Ferrofluid) which is located under the glass face. A magnetic charge will attract the fluid to different positions within the watch, resulting in the indication of hours and minutes. Needless to say, telling the time then is as simple as can be, but the method used to arrive at such a state is impressive to say the least. Some people might prefer to have illumination within, but we think that this would make a great timepiece to impress the chicks.

future screen 300x293 This could be what 2014 is likeYou should take a few minutes to watch this video by TAT. Honestly, I have never heard of TAT, but “TAT’s technology powers 470+ million devices, in more than 15 percent of all new phones in 2010 and 20 percent of all touch phones. TAT’s technology also powers DTVs, STBs, car clusters and tablets”.

This video, which shows the future of touchscreen technology, shows us “a normal day in 2014″. In all honesty, I am not certain that we will be this advanced by then.

I mean, just watch this video after the jump. In four years, I’m pretty certain that we’ll be able to shut off the alarm clocks on our mobile phones by waving, but I’m not certain whether they will have stretchable touchscreens.

I’m also not certain about the the desktops. They are transparent screens that are at least 27 inches from diagonal to diagonal. Will we be able to turn an image around backwards so someone on the other side of the screen can see it?

Then there is the whole sharing from screen to screen. Sure, we can do wireless transfers of files from one mobile to the other, but not like what you see here.

So, is this view of the future too optimistic? I’ll let you decide that. Better yet, Bookmark this article now and promise to read it in 2014, and we’ll see how right these TAT people are.

pioneer speakers Pioneer has just announced a new speaker range

Pioneer Electronics has a spanking new line up of speakers for home theater and music reproduction buffs, where they were specially designed from the ground up thanks to Pioneer USA’s chief speaker engineer, Andrew Jones. The new line will come with bookshelf (SP-BS21-LR, SP-BS41-LR), floorstanding (SP-FS51-LR) and center channel (SP-C21) speakers alongside a subwoofer (SW-8), where all of them were specially engineered to deliver exceptional audio performance, regardless of whether it is used as a two channel music system or a full 7.1 channel home theater system.

The whole Home Theater and Music Speaker line will make full use of radio frequency bonded, curved cabinets that will deliver a distinct cosmetic look as well as a stiffer and stronger structure, which ultimately results in better sound reproduction thanks to reduced cabinet resonance. You won’t find cheap stuff in there – we’re talking about quality components within and without, where each speaker uses flush mounted grills for individual drivers instead of a single grill for the whole front portion of the cabinet. Cloth also has no role to play here, since the speaker grills themselves are made out of metal for superior protection. As for the grills themselves, it is like a BMW – adding to the overall cosmetic appeal of the speaker.

In order to introduce improved sound quality, Pioneer’s new speaker series will rely on a sophisticated multi-component crossover which can achieve a more accurate frequency division as well as a more precise re-creation of sound. All speakers within its line will also come with gold-plated 5-way binding posts that deliver superior conductivity and flexible connection methods. Depending on which model you decide to bring home today, Pioneer’s latest Home Theater and Music Speaker line will retail anywhere from $79 all the way to $199 – nothing that will break the bank, really, and yet it will greatly enhance what your home can offer in terms of entertainment.

getac v200 Getac gets tough with V200 notebook

Getac knows that it is a dog-eat-dog world out there, which is why the company has released its latest rugged notebook known as the V200. This is no ordinary notebook since it will come in a convertible form factor, which also places it as the most powerful as well as fully rugged convertible notebook to date in the world. Underneath the hood, don’t be fooled as it has enough processing muscle to handle most of today’s tasks without missing a beat – we’re talking about an Intel Core i7-620LM processor that runs at 2.0GHz, maxing out at 2.8GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology.

Not only that, you will also benefit from 4MB of Intel L3 Smart Cache which further improves efficiency as well as increasing processor speed. It ain’t a power hog either, sipping just 25-watts.

You can use it for vehicle mounting or field use, where the V200 convertible will feature a 12.1-inch widescreen display while boasting Getac’s very own 1,200 NITs QuadraClear technology that lets you read whatever tiny fonts there are in a crystal clear manner even when you are working under direct sunlight. Yup, that’s extreme all right, and the display also offers a resistive multi-touch capability which lets you manipulate icons and menus on the display using single and multi-finger gestures even with gloves worn. Now that ought to be a relief to most workers under such harsh environments since it would be a hassle to remove and wear gloves over and over again when operating the V200.

The V200 is MIL-STD-810G and IP65 compliant, coming in a full magnesium alloy casing while being able to function in low-temperature environments of up to -20C. Not only that, additional hardware specifications include a shock mounted 320GB hard drive, sealed I/O caps, doors to prevent damage from solid particles and moisture, an 80GB solid state drive option, a full-size, 88-key keyboard, 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, 10/100/1000 Giga LAN support, GPS, 3G-Gobi 2000 multi-band wireless and a host of other interface connectivity options. You can also hot-swap the battery when the action gets too hot and heavy for the V200 – now how about that? With a 5-year warranty, this will get obsolete before you need to replace it due to a malfunction.

guard dog Guard Dog for your working desk

Do you love maintaining your personal space and jealously guard it as though it is the elixir of life itself? The Guard Dog which is USB-powered might just do the trick then – after all, it will growl menacingly at anyone who ventures too close to your cubicle for comfort. This is made possible thanks to a built-in motion sensor which will alert the Guard Dog to intruders, and unlike your average pooch that might be tempted by a poisoned piece of meat, this one won’t accept treats of any kind albeit living up to the adage that his bark is worse than his bite! You can choose to have the Guard Dog run off USB power (great during office hours) or battery (if you’re elsewhere away from a computer). Nice to know that it will already ship with a trio of AA batteries to help you get started right out of the box. The price to pay might be a wee bit steep for most people though – we’re talking about $79 here.

Well, turn loose change into neat stacks with the Money Machine 2 – this unique device will be able to keep track of your daily deposits, and sorting all coins out the moment they are dropped within. garminnuvi22002300 610x458 300x225 Garmin introduces the Nuvi 2200 and 2300 GPS seriesI am not certain if the market for stand-alone GPS devices is strong, but I believe that Garmin still is the leader in a business that is slowly being replaced by smartphone applications.

The company has just recently announced two new lines in their Nuvi series, which includes the 2200 (2200, 2250, and 2250LT) and 2300 (2300, 2300LM, 2350, 2350LT, 2350MT, and 2370LT) series.

Both the 2200 and 2300 models have Garmin’s ecoRoute fuel-efficient routing and driving tools technology, as well as My Trends to save your favorite destinations and automatically remember routes and travel times. They are also come preloaded with maps of the lower 48 United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Grand Bahama Island, Nassau, and the Cayman Islands.

The 2250 and 2350 have the same maps, but include Mexico. The 2250LT and 2350LT have the LT suffix because they get lifetime traffic.

As for the 2360LT and 2360MT, they have all the features plus Bluetooth wireless hands-free calling. The most advanced is, of course, the 2370LT, which is preloaded with North American and European maps.

All these units are available on the Garmin website. The Garmin 2200 is $149.99, the 2250 is $159.99, and the 2250LT is $179.99. The 2300 is $199.99, the 2300LM is $239.99. The 2350 is $209.99, the 2350LT is $229.99, and the 2350MT is $269.99. The 2360LT is $259.99 and the 2360MT is $299.99, and the 2370LT is the same price.

wii sonic screwdriver 245x300 Doctor Who’s Sonic Screwdriver is now a WiimoteI don’t know if you are aware of this, but this blog comes out of the UK. Another UK franchise that has the coolest gadgets is none other than Doctor Who.

If you are not familiar with the show, it is about a time traveler. It has been on in some form since 1968, and the good doctor has been portrayed by ten different actors. I believe that the SyFy channel airs it now.

Some things about the show in the early days are quite dated, but some things have remained constant, like the Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver. This was a tool that could operate any lock, mechanical or electronic. Apparently someone thought it would look good in Wiimote form.

The plan is to market this Wiimote with a Wii game that will be released in October known as Doctor Who: Return to Earth.

I suppose this will be good for all Doctor Who fans. Do Doctor Who fans have a name like Star Trek has Trekkies and Twilight has Twi-hards

? Perhaps they should be called Who-sers, not to be confused with the film Hoosiers.

Anyway, my Source doesn’t seem to have a price or availability date on this product, but if the company that makes this Sonic Screwdriver Wiimote is smart, then it should be out before the game’s release in October.
